Pre-operative instructions
DO NOT eat solid food or drink anything after midnight the evening prior to your surgery.
DO NOT chew gum, hard candy, cough drops or chew tobacco.
DO NOT take any blood thinning medications for FIVE to SEVEN days (unless otherwise directed by your physician) prior to your surgery. These include;
- Aspirin
- Coumadin
- Plavix
- Heparin
- Anti-inflammatories {Advil, Aleve, Motrin etc}
If you are unsure if a medication you are taking contains a blood thinning agent, please contact your pharmacy or our office to clarify.
If you have diabetes, talk with your physician about the dose of medication you should take the day of your surgery.
You will need to have a driver when you are discharged from the hospital. If you need transportation, NW Med Van may be avaliable for Sacred Heart or Deaconess by calling 473-6377.
